Eric Young is a tenured professor of Communication at Dixie State University in St. George, Utah, teaching in both human and mass communication disciplines since 1998. Eric is also the lead facilitator for GuardianTactics, training in threat assessment and de-escalation tactics for Law Enforcement. His previous professional experience, education and research are steeped in studying and assessing non-verbal cues in emotional escalation and lie detection.

Young draws applications from transactional communication, perceptual influences, psychological barriers and non-verbal communication to create skills in his students to assess escalated signals and engage individuals to thwart threatening and violent outcomes.
